Eating...eating is is considered an art, and the gaditanos take great pride in their cuisine. To eat in Cadiz is pure pleasure and something you should not leave without trying.
The Costa de la Luz is well known for its excellent fish dishes like caballas, chova, rape, acedías and calamares, to name but a few. It's not just fish though; the gastronomy here is wide and varied. Other local products include: peppers, tomatoes, superb Retinto meat in the south, wine from Jerez, manzanilla from Sanlúcar, moscatel from Chipiona and a wide selection of pastries like tocino de cielo.
If travelling to nearby Rota, don't forget to stop off in Bar La Concha. It's located just in front of Luna Castle, right in the heart of the old part of the city. The surroundings are impressive and the atmosphere is very chilled out.
If you're into seafood, you should try La Almadraba. Or else the restaurant of Duque de Nájera Hotel. Here they serve amazing fish dishes - some of the best in the area.
In Chipiona, Bar Quino is well worth checking out. It's relaxed, unpretentious, and the food is great. You should try the grilled fresh fish. They cook it on a large open air terrace; you decide what you want and they cook it for you. It's very cheap too; great value for money.
